Expert engagement FAQs

Clear answers before a project begins.

These answers describe Axiopact Advisory’s general expert engagement model. The terms of a specific assignment are governed by the applicable written agreement.

Is this a W-2 employee position or an independent contractor engagement?

Our expert opportunities are structured as independent contractor engagements. Contractors who meet applicable reporting requirements will generally receive a Form 1099-NEC rather than a Form W-2. Experts are responsible for managing their own federal, state, and local tax obligations.

Are employee benefits included?

No. Because these opportunities are independent contractor engagements, they do not include employee benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, retirement plans, unemployment benefits, or other benefits generally associated with W-2 employment.

How is compensation structured?

Compensation is project-based rather than provided as a fixed annual salary. The specific amount, payment structure, scope, expected deliverables, and payment schedule will be communicated before an expert accepts an engagement. Depending on the project, compensation may be based on an agreed project fee, milestone, deliverable, consulting rate, or another structure documented in the project agreement.

Are weekly hours guaranteed?

No fixed number of weekly hours is guaranteed unless this is expressly stated in the applicable project agreement or Statement of Work. The anticipated time commitment may vary according to the scope, duration, and requirements of each project. Available information about expected workload will be communicated before acceptance.

Is the work remote?

Yes. Expert engagements with Axiopact Advisory are generally performed remotely. Certain projects may require scheduled virtual meetings, client discussions, expert interviews, document reviews, research, analysis, or other time-sensitive participation. Relevant scheduling requirements will be communicated before the engagement begins.

Who provides the equipment?

Independent contractors are generally expected to provide their own computer, internet connection, telephone, software, workspace, and other equipment necessary to complete the agreed services. When a project requires access to a specific platform, system, database, or client-provided resource, the applicable access arrangements will be explained separately.

Who controls the work schedule?

Experts generally manage their own working schedules and methods, subject to agreed deadlines, deliverables, scheduled meetings, client availability, confidentiality requirements, compliance requirements, and other terms included in the project agreement. Each expert is responsible for completing accepted work accurately, professionally, and within the agreed timeline.

Is Axiopact Advisory a U.S.-based company?

Yes. Axiopact Advisory is a U.S.-based consulting company headquartered in San Francisco, California.

Will I work directly with Axiopact Advisory or with an Axiopact client?

The arrangement may vary by engagement. Experts may support an internal Axiopact Advisory project or provide expertise in connection with a project conducted for one of our clients. Before acceptance, experts will receive available information regarding the contracting party, scope, responsibilities, confidentiality obligations, deliverables, compensation terms, anticipated timeline, and relevant client requirements.

How will the engagement terms be documented?

Before work begins, the applicable terms will be documented in a written independent contractor agreement, project agreement, Statement of Work, or similar written document. It may address scope, deliverables, compensation, payment schedule, timeline, confidentiality, intellectual property, communication requirements, compliance requirements, and termination or cancellation terms.
